Hello- I'm So Glad You're Here
Welcome!
My name is Kourtney and I’m a Registered Psychotherapist who specializes in grief and trauma. Please don't let that deter you if you are looking for support that lands outside this specialty! I encourage you to reach out and we can explore if I may be a good fit to support you on your health and healing journey.
I am dedicated to walking alongside you through life’s most challenging and transformative moments. Whether you're navigating the weight of grief, working through past trauma, managing stress, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the pace of life, you don’t have to go through it alone. I specialize in supporting individuals through a variety of experiences, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. I have over a decade of experience in healthcare, and prior to my work as a therapist I was the executive director for a small rural community Hospice. My expereince in Hospice allows me to support individuals and families facing life limiting illness with confidence and a comfort for holding space when it feels like there's nothing left to say.
My approach is compassionate, non-judgmental, and centered around creating a safe and supportive space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. Therapy with me is a collaborative journey. I believe in meeting you where you are with empathy, curiosity, and care and helping you move toward healing, clarity, and a deeper sense of self.
Everyone’s story matters, and I’m honored to hold space for yours. Whether you're seeking support for something specific, or you're not quite sure where to begin. I'm here to help you explore, heal, and grow at your own pace.
My Story
My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by personal and professional experience. I know what it’s like to carry grief and trauma in silence. For a long time, I didn’t know how to express my emotions. I convinced myself that talking about my pain wouldn’t help it, and certainly wouldn’t bring anyone back. I pushed forward, even as my body was quietly (and then loudly) asking me to stop. Pleading for help and healing.
I was told I was “so strong,” and I clung to that identity. Over time, I began to see how it kept me disconnected, believing that emotions were weaknesses to hide, not truths to honour.
That silence became an emotional prison, and the cost was high: my mental, emotional, and physical health all suffered.
My experience working in hospice and palliative care deepened my understanding of the complexity of grief, the resilience of the human spirit, and the importance of having a safe space to process what it means to live, and lose fully. It was through this work, and my own healing, that I felt called to this path.
One turning point for me was completing The Grief Recovery Method®. A transformational process that gave me new tools, and new language for moving through loss. I often incorporate elements of this framework into my work with clients, along with other trauma-informed and individualized approaches.
Today, I support individuals navigating grief, trauma, life transitions, chronic illness, and the emotional weight of carrying too much for too long.
I believe healing begins with honesty, self-compassion, and connection. I’m honored to walk alongside those ready to begin that journey.
